Swimwear trends for summer 2015

Wondering what you’ll be wearing pool side this summer? This season, swimwear fashions take their cue from mainstream fashion with sporty inspiration, bold colours and interesting details.

Here is our lowdown on the hottest swimwear trends.

Colour blocking
Neoprene is the most prevalent colour trend emerging this spring. Bikinis in neon shades of orange, turquoise and yellow with black edging are a stand out look, especially when teamed with sun-kissed skin.

Sporty swimsuits
Sport luxe is having a real moment in fashion; sport wear has been incorporated into everyday wear on catwalks all over the world, and swimwear has been no exception. Bikini tops with racer-style cuts and practical coverage have had a strong presence everywhere.

The appeal lies in the practicality of these swimsuits, which can be worn for beach games and out in the surf without fear of slipping.

Mismatched
Alternative fashion choices always make their presence known, and this year it’s in the form of the deliberately mismatched bikini.

Clashing prints or colours are right on trend if you are brave enough to try the look, otherwise a simple black or white bottom looks great with a printed top. Mismatched swimwear looks casually cool.

High waisted bottoms
The high waisted trend has been around for a few seasons now, but it’s a style that seems to have staying power. It cinches you in at the waist, which draws attention to the tiniest part of your body.

It also covers the lower part of your stomach, something that many women may find as a plus! Vintage inspired suits with a high waisted bottom and a bralette-style top are perfect for pool side glamour.

Cut out full pieces
Full pieces are a classic swimwear staple, and are particularly great for those of us who want a bit more coverage. However, there has been a surge in cut outs lately that will see a bit more flesh being flashed. Choose from subtle side cut outs, or go all out sexy with sheer panels.

Try this unexpected trend: long sleeves
It may seem odd that long sleeves could be fashionable by the pool or at the beach, as usually the tiniest bikinis take centre stage. But this season many swimwear brands have taken a practical turn, offering long sleeved rash-vest like tops in cute patterns. Minimize your sun exposure and your risk of losing your top in the water in these long sleeved styles.
