Firing on all cylinders
11 April 2012
For most people, having your car serviced regularly by an expert is second nature. You want to keep you car in tip top condition, right? Well the same goes for your swimming pool. Granted all pools are different – as are their maintenance needs – but they do share one key thing in common: the secret to their health and longevity is routine care.
Firing on all cylinders
"Just like your car needs regular servicing, so too does your swimming pool," says Swimart national manager Chris Fitzmaurice. "But while all car owners are capable of checking tyre pressure, radiator water and oil levels, they usually leave the full service to a professional mechanic.
"Similarly, while it's easy to look after your swimming pool if you have adequate tools, equipment and basic knowledge of water chemistry, the bigger challenge that pool owners face is that most consider clear water to equal clean water - and that's not always the case."
Regular maintenance of your pool and its equipment will ensure it's always working at its optimum level. This enables any parts that are failing to be replaced or repaired - before the whole unit requires replacement.
For peace of mind, Swimart offers a home pool maintenance service, which can be as simple or as comprehensive as you like or as your individual pool requires. Whether it's providing a regular cleaning and maintenance service throughout the year, a special holiday service (to ensure you don't come back to a ‘green' pool), or a complete pool and equipment service (think tune up), Swimart offers a range of specialised packages.
"Our experienced technicians are fully trained to service and maintain all types of pools and spas," Chris says. "In addition to providing regular pool cleaning, installing new equipment and checking existing equipment is operating efficiently and effectively, they can find and fix a plethora of problems, from algae issues, cloudy water to filtration problems.
"We can also advise on the most economical and eco-friendly products that will ensure your pool / spa is not only running at peak performance, but also in a way that will save you money and time whilst being kind to the environment."
Swimart's home pool services:

We will provide a range of essential maintenance services uniquely tailored to your pool - from a full vacuum to water balancing and equipment checks.
Pool/spa owners instruction service
So you now own a pool or spa but don't know how to maintain it? Not to worry, Swimart offers an owner instruction service to teach you all about your pool or spa and its equipment - from emptying baskets and water balancing, to backwashing filters. We will also provide you with a Pool Maintenance Booklet to make your ongoing maintenance program as easy and stress-free as possible.
Water health check
For those of you that don't have time to bring a water sample into your nearest Swimart store, we will come to you. We'll conduct an accurate onsite water analysis and recommend the right chemicals for your pool.
94 Point Pool Check
Want to make sure your pool is as efficient, well-maintained and as safe as possible? Swimart's comprehensive 94 Point Pool Check ensures just that. This service provides you with a complete overview of your pool equipment, from the skimmer basket and main drain, through to the pump, filter and chlorinator/chemical feeder, and back to the returns. Every part is examined to ensure there are no visual leaks at the pump, the cleaner is operating correctly and covering the pool as required, and skimmer and pump baskets are correctly fitted and intact so no debris passes through, causing the impellor on the pump to seize.
Filter sand change
Did you know that the sand in your filter needs to be replaced every four to five years to ensure maximum performance? Over time, the filtration process causes water channels to form in the filter sand which means it runs less effectively. Changing the sand isn't an easy DIY job, so our technicians can do this for you.
Filter clean and degrease service
Keeping your pool filter in great condition is vital for the health of your pool. We offer a full filter clean and degrease service which includes our Aqua Health Filter Degreaser (all other parts if required are extra).
Pool/spa filtration problem solving
Are you having problems with your pool or spa's filtration or cleaning equipment? Then allow our technicians to check your on-site pump, filter and chlorinator and determine what the issue is and how to resolve it.
Pool/spa general repairs
If you have pool or spa equipment in need of repair, we can determine the problem and fix the equipment or, if it's beyond fixing, advise on what the best replacement products are for your pool. Plus for new installations, we can also handle that.
